| Help Us Complete The Greenway |
| Although much of the funding for the actual construction of the Greenway comes from federal funds and grants, corporate and individual donations are used to develop amenities along the Pigeon Creek Greenway Passage. |
| Buy a Tree for the Trail |
Buy a tree or a whole grove of trees! Trees provide shade and beautify the trail. Trees will also provide habitat and food for wildlife. Donors will be acknowledged with a certificate, suitable for framing. $300 & up per tree, depending on size and type |
 |
| Buy a Bench on the Trail |
Buy a bench for sitting along the trail to enjoy a rest, admire a special view, or visit with a friend. Donors will be acknowledged with a plaque on the bench. $850 per bench |
| Education on the Greenway |
| The Greenway is an outdoor classroom, providing opportunities to learn about the natural and urban environments. |
| Outdoor Storyboards |
Your donation will be used to purchase and install a weather-proof, vandal-resistant graphic and text storyboard on one of the following topics (donors are also invited to suggest their own topics):
- Natural habitat and stream corridor ecosystems - The Ohio River as a transportation system - Historic features - How a city’s infrastructure works - The story of Evansville’s industry - The flood protection system of levees and pump stations - Historical events and settlement patterns - Historic structures such as the 1891 iron bridge
$5,000 per Storyboard |
| Landscape Enhancement of the Greenway |
A powerful landscape defined by the grassed earthworks of the levee system contrasts with the naturalized floodplain of Pigeon Creek. The landscape program will enhance that corridor, stabilize banks, improve habitat, and create a colorful and seasonally varied visual thread through the length of the Greenway.
Contribute towards a fund or offer in-kind services (if qualified) for a quarter-mile section:
- Clean and thin noxious and invasive plant material in a 15-20’ width along the wooded edge of the trail - Enrich the woodland edge with plantings of native flowering trees and shrubs per guidelines
$500 minium donation |
| Art and Sculpture on the Greenway |
| A city that celebrates art in its public places is a city that values the creative spirit. The rustic and peaceful setting of the Greenway is an ideal location for visitors to appreciate sculpture or paintings created by area artists. |
| Interactive Sculpture along the Greenway Trail: |
- Locations will be developed along the Greenway where significant cultural objects can enhance the natural landscape. These pieces could range from monumental sculptural forms to a mural on a levee wall. - Commission a piece or select from a catalog of artists' works that will be developed in conjunction with the Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana. - Sponsor an annual exhibit of a work (or works) from area art schools. Cost is negotiable. Donor must include installation of the art and establish a maintenance endowment. |
| Greenway Trailheads |
Greenway entrance points will serve as a link to a neighborhood, a park, a school, or other community destination.
A typical trailhead includes an information kiosk, which has trail maps and information, post or rail protection, special paving, bike racks, and associated landscaping. $15,000 and up |
 |
| Places to Pause along the Greenway |
All along the trail, visitors will discover places to bask in the sun, take in a special view, stop at a resting point.
At various points, the Greenway will offer places to pause. These places will offer a single bench or a cluster of benches, bike parking, storyboard, an occasional picnic table, and associated landscape paintings. $1,000 and up |
| Safety and Security |
Safety and security are important concerns for the image of the trail and comfort level of its users.
Ranger presence provides a safe and secure Greenway. First-rate equipment will assist park rangers and encourage volunteer ranger patrol. Both would benefit by professional training and a centrally-located facility for Patrol Operations. Equipment Needed: mountain bike, radio, helmet, cell phones and t-shirts. $3,000 and up |
| Maintenance Endowment |
To keep a consistent standard of safety and enjoyment, the trail must be kept in good repair and spotless condition without regard to economic conditions. A maintenance endowment will assure that a high standard of maintenance will be set and met. Dedicated maintenance staff and equipment will keep the Greenway an asset to the community. Endowment Contributions $25 minimum |
| Authorized Use of the Greenway Logo Tells the Community Your Business Supports Environmental Principles |
