Trailheads
Three trailheads currently offer access to the Pigeon Creek Greenway Passage and include parking spaces, trash receptacles, and posted rules of the trail.

-Heidelbach Canoe Launch area (Diamond Avenue then north on Heidelbach to the curve, proceed straight ahead and over the levee)
-Garvin Park (accesses the middle of the trail)
-Animal Control Shelter on Uhlhorn Street off First Avenue (parking shared with the Animal Control Shelter)

Phases 1 & 2
This completed section starts from the canoe launch at the north end of Heidelbach Avenue along the levee under Diamond Avenue connecting at the north side of Garvin Park and continuing under First Avenue and ending by the City's Animal Shelter at Uhlhorn Street.

Phase 3
This section stretches from Angel Mounds to the First Avenue/ Uhlhorn Street trailhead. Phase 3 has been divided into four sub-sections lettered A - D. Phase 3A is the section from Angel Mounds to Sunrise Park.

Phase 3B
The Downtown riverfront is part of the Greenway, labeled as Phase 3B, which is a vital part of the connection and is really an elegant example of a cultural Greenway. Section 3B starts at Sunrise Park connecting with Sunset Park going along the levee on the Ohio River side of the Evansville Museum to the Four Freedoms Monument and the Korean War Memorial. The Greenway continues along the newly renovated riverfront with overlooks, one centered at Main Street, and connecting over to Fulton Avenue.

The riverfront allows for a combined bicycle and pedestrian system with the bicyclists on the right-hand side and the pedestrians on the left-hand side, so they can access the river with views from the overlook. The trail will be separated at the Casino with the pedestrian path at the river edge and the bike path at the road side of the casino.

The section near the Pagoda and the Evansville Museum will be a core area of the new Greenway that will incorporate an accessible route from the parking drop-off at the Pagoda. There will be a little courtyard pausing area between the Museum and Pagoda. The three flagpoles that are there now will be replaced and renovated into this area off of a higher terrace area that will connect with the Museum Sculpture Garden. Overlook at the gate will create sitting areas at the top of the levee for views out to the river.

Phase 3C
Phase 3C extends from Fulton Avenue to Uhlhorn Street. Included in this section will be the Ohio Street Bridge, nominated for the National Register, which will become an overlook on the Greenway. It will be designated the Joan Marchand Overlook, in memory of Joan Marchand, who was an active historic preservationist in Evansville. A small park will be constructed around the bridge. Construction for Phase 3C is expected to start in 2003.

Phase 3D
Phase 3D is the Hi-Rail Corridor, the abandoned railroad property running along the west side of Hwy 41. We are currently seeking funding to proceed with a connection from Sunrise Park along the interstate and connecting all the way up to the Lloyd Expressway. This is a future aspect of the Greenway.

Future
Long-range plans for the Pigeon Creek Greenway Passage include connections out to University of Southern Indiana, a connection with Newburgh from Angel Mounds, and a connection up to Moutoux, Igleheart, Kleymeyer, and Garvin parks. There is also a proposed connection to the Evansville State Hospital grounds.

Eventually the path will encircle Vanderburgh County.
